Southern_Shift
Who/what is Southern_Shift? Southern_Shift is a club comprised of Nissan Sentra owners. We all live in the Carolinas area. We represent a wide cross section of ages, likes and dislikes, and other demographics. Some of us autocross, some of us drag race, some of us just enjoy modifying cars for performance and looks.
Our main goal is to promote the fun and enjoyment of owning, modifying, and racing Nissans. To further this goal, we have set up this club, Southern_Shift, as a non-profit corporation complete with dues paying members and elected officers. We all met while surfing on the B15Sentra forum and decided to get together. We consistently have a strong showing when we hold events, much more so than many other car enthusiast clubs of comparable size. Our events include dyno days, tech days, autocrosses, and road races.
Dyno days and tech days are just whenever there is an interest in helping each other work on the cars or test the gains of previous work done. We usually meet at someone’s house or a local dyno shop and just socialize for the day. This can be anywhere from a small group of three or up to 10 or 12 on dyno days.
Autocrosses are serious business. They are hosted by an SCCA (Sports Car Club of America) club and comply with all of the SCCA safety rules. These events draw anywhere 50 to 200 drivers, plus families, friends and officials. Our passion for autocrossing began when two of the current club officers met at an autocross in June of 2002. Since then Southern_Shift members have been to more than 15 events with a total attendance population of over 1350 people. These events are hosted in Charleston, Columbia, Florence, Charlotte, Sanford, Boone and other locations.
Currently, we have two members who go to track events (Test & Tune or Driving Schools) on a regular basis. Although we do not have access to official attendance numbers, these events usually draw between 100 and 200 drivers along with pit crews, families and friends. Many S_S members have recently acquired cars with the sole purpose of making dedicated racers, be it autocross, road racing or drag racing. Our favorite venues are Carolina Motorsports Park, Roebling Road, Lowes Motorspeedway, Virginia International Raceway, and Darlington International Dragway.
